Can You Wash Car Mats In The Washer

A steam cleaning vacuum or power washer often at car washes work or place the mats in the washing machine with regular detergent and stain remover.

Can you wash car mats in the washer. You can also put car floor mats in your washing machine using your regular detergent. My advice would be if you do then run washer on hot with some boi powder in after with no clothes in to give it a good clean. Whether or not you should wash them at home is a different story and depends on the size of your washing machine. No i wouldn t do that.

I clean mine when i go to the sellf serve car wash spray them with soap and then rinse with the water sprayer dry them outside in the sun. Not only can crumbled rug backing come off in the laundry and damage your washing machine a rug with no backing will slip and slide. If you have a small washer the heavy load could damage it. When using the washing machine to clean your car mats make sure you use a low tumble cycle to prevent the mat from getting beaten around too much and wash them either on their own or with similar items like old towels rags and household floor rugs. You could damage both the mats and your washer. I once put a air filter housing into a dish washer and yes it did clean it up but it took about 6 washes to get the grease oil residue out o. I washed dp car mats on cold in our old washer and everything had black marks on for 2 weeks thing something came off the rubber onto the seal of the washer or something and transfered onto clothes. If you choose a hose that has relatively low to mid range pressure or one with a wide angled nozzle then you can use a pressure washer hose to clean the dirt and debris from your rubber car mats. Unless you have some huge machine i don t see how they will fin in the machine. You may be able to put them in the dryer afterward but you could also let them air dry.

You can also use a cleaner designed for car mats available in many auto shops or create your own. If you don t have a power washer at home you can usually find them at car washes and you could power wash your floor mats there.
